Naworth has been tastefully developed and is a conversion of an old two storey stone lean-to building dating from the seventeen hundreds. The property gets its name from an inscription on a stone bearing the name of Lady Dorothy Howard of Naworth Castle which we found in the wall of what is now the kitchen. Also with a large open plan living and dining area on the first floor, and French doors leading onto the covered balcony with a peaceful view of the churchyard, It really is an ideal setting for being creative or simply relaxing and enjoying the fresh air.
Enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful South Tyne valley from Alston station on the South Tynedale railway, with vintage steam or diesel locomotives. Fishing, horse riding and golf are available nearby. Follow some of the local rambles or the Pennine Way. The glorious coast and countryside of Northumbria is within travelling distance, as are the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish Borders. There are water sports at Talkin and Kielder Water. Gateshead is only an hour away, with a large shopping centre, restaurants and a ten screen cinema. Alternatively, just stay home and relax with Alston’s quaint cobbled main street, a range of individual shops, character inns, restaurants and tea rooms. Within the area is an historical Roman fort and tourists will enjoy the museums, exhibitions and sites along Hadrian’s Wall. Pub and restaurant 176 yards.
Naworth (UK1534) can be booked together with Millstream (UK1532) and Sowerberry (UK1533) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
