New Thornber has been recently renovated in 2023 into a stunning holiday cottage. Sleeping up to eight guests in four bedrooms, the house is ideal for enjoying a holiday with family and friends! Offering spectacular, far-reaching views over the Yorkshire Three Peaks, taking in Ingleborough, Whernside and looking down the Wenning Valley towards Morecambe Bay. Nestled between the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland, it is the perfect location for a fantastic getaway!
Leading off the entrance hall is a large living room with panoramic views over Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, and here you’ll also find an electric Aga wood burner, along with a Smart TV and several games and books. The fully equipped kitchen is open plan with the dining space, featuring an antique farmhouse table, and in the summer months, you can open up the doors to enjoy the outdoors. From here through another hallway, you’ll find the downstairs bedroom, bathroom and a back door out onto the rear patio. There is a spacious downstairs super kingsize bedroom which can also offer arrangement as a twin, and with a separate shower room next door. The ground floor facilities make it perfect for guests who struggle with steps. Upstairs there is another large double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a further double bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and a good-sized bunk bedroom. The luxurious family bathroom is also upstairs and features a separate shower and roll-top slipper bath from which you can soak and enjoy views over Ingleborough and Whernside. Along with a private garden is a rear terrace stretching along the back of the house, where you can sit and enjoy the sunrise. To the front, there is a patio area which can be accessed via the kitchen. There is another small raised terraced in the front garden and a viewing platform overlooking the Wenning valley where there are the most fantastic sunsets, both are accessed by a couple of small steps.
Walking into the market town of High Bentham takes around 15 minutes. The town offers traditional amenities including pubs, cafes and an independent butchers. There are good rail links, with Bentham station on the Lancaster to Leeds line and the famous Settle to Carlisle train line is only 20 minutes away. New Thornber is located next door to Bentham Golf Club and there are lots of public footpaths around the local area.
The Bentham Heritage Trail consists of three different length trails starting at the train station and the ’Great Stone of Fourstones’, a relic of the Ice Age sits above the town. The Way of the Roses cycle route skirts the town and High Bentham lies at the mid-point of the Lands End - John o’ Groats cycleway for the adventurous. The village of Ingleton is a 5-minute drive away and is home to a seasonal heated open-air swimming pool and climbing wall centre. The Ingleton Waterfalls walk and White Scar Caves are both worth a visit.
