Nearby Bedale is 4 miles, with impressive churches, steeped in history, some of which can be found in the local museum. The town has a weekly market, enjoy an amble along the high street and browse various independent shops, craft and antique shops, cafes and pubs, providing local beers and home-cooked food. Children of all ages will love a visit to the Forbidden Corner with its labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises created in a four acre garden in the heart of Tupgill Park in Coverham in Coverdale or a visit to Thorp Perrow Arboretum Wildlife Park.
