Orchard Cottage is perfect for a relaxing and peaceful break. Beautifully converted, with many original features, the high-pitched roof and exposed timbers and stonework give this delightful cottage a feeling of space. Its quirky layout is ‘upside down’ with two adorable bedrooms, shower room and a cloakroom downstairs, and a handcrafted spiral staircase leading upstairs to an open-plan kitchen, dining area for 4 and spacious sitting room. The low windows offer stunning views over the adjoining orchard, spectacular countryside, and steam railway.
The full height hallway gives access to the two bedrooms – a kingsize with en-suite shower room, and one twin. There is a separate downstairs loo, but the shower room is shared.
This beautifully presented cottage nestles amongst sheep pasture, with gated access over the stream running into Eller Beck, and is a walker’s haven surrounded by miles of footpaths and bridleways across farmland and moor, whilst a lovely flat walk along the old railway line brings you into the scenic village of Goathland. Enjoy a walk up onto the moors, down to the Mallyan Spout waterfall or follow the Rail Trail to Grosmont and return by steam trail.
An outing on the North Yorks Steam Railway is a trip back in time, as it winds its way through the moors, all the way to bustling, historic Whitby on the coast or the delightful market town of Pickering inland.
Whitby offers many attractions, with its famous Abbey, the infamous 199 Steps, long, sandy beaches and cobbled streets. Guests are spoilt for choice with the numerous restaurants, coffee shops, independent shops, and museums in this quaint town, as well as its charming harbour and renowned fish and chips. Visit Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay, all delightful destinations for a scenic day out on the Yorkshire Coast.
Please note that although electric car charging is not available at the cottage, there are charging points in Whitby and Pickering, including Tesla.
Can also be booked with UK44351 The Long Barn to accommodate up to 12 guests.
