Osprey Cottage at Port O’ Tay is the ideal location for a romantic escape, with views of the River Tay and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. In the heart of Highland Perthshire and located between Logierait Bridge and the Upper Kinnaird Fishing Hut, the detached cottage has lawns leading right down to the water’s edge. Offering an up-close encounter with nature and named after one of the many birds you may spot from your front door. The entrance porch houses the washer/dryer and leads to the open plan living space with comfortable seating, a wood burner and Smart TV. The kitchen area is well equipped and has a dining table. There is also a cloakroom. On the first floor the well-presented bedroom has a super kingsize bed with en-suite facilities and offers views over the River Tay.
There are some lovely walks in the local area, as well as birdwatching or just relaxing and enjoying the peace and tranquillity while surrounded by spectacular scenery. By prior arrangement with the estate, guests are able to fish for salmon in season (at cost) on one of the most highly regarded beats on the River Tay; loch fishing is also available at Two Hill Loch. The estate has a long history dating back to the early 1600s when it was owned by the Stewart family. Over the centuries many famous people have been known to have lived or stayed here including several leading Scottish literary figures including James Hogg, Sir Walter Scott’s poet friend and protégé.
For guests who enjoy being out in the great outdoors, this area of Perthshire provides walking, cycling and hill walking to suit all abilities. Various water sports can be enjoyed on Loch Tay, with kayaking and white water rafting nearby. There are several local golf courses in the area and the championship Gleneagles course is within an hour’s drive. Whilst in a rural location guests are within easy reach of the A9 with Perth, Inverness, Stirling and Edinburgh all within easy driving distance. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
