Ty Mawr is a uniquely crafted, rustic treehouse escape in North Wales for a couple, or two adults and up to three children. Each one of these chic tree shelters sleep four - two adults on a hand built, wooden double bed and two children in built-in bunk beds. All beds have views over the woodland from large windows, allowing for star gazing and bird spotting well into the night. The living space is big enough for a family stay, and cosy enough for a couple, with fully equipped kitchen has cooking and washing up facilities, comfortable seating and dining areas, and a central wood burner provides a sepia glow over this simple existence. The shower can be found under the structure, and the compost toilet is on its own platform nearby. Rope bridges, spiral staircases, tree hammocks and streams also add to the experience, allowing the kids and the big kids an amazing, serene experience between the branches.
Watch buzzards overhead and squirrels leaping from branch to branch from the rounded windows of your holiday nest. Revel in the intoxicating smell of wildflowers and the sound of the nearby stream dancing its way through the valley. This treehouse experience in the heart of rural mid Wales is a real break from the hustle of modern living, allowing for a mindful break for couples and families. Situated at the base of some of Wales’ most popular hiking and climbing mountains at nearby Snowdonia National Park, you don’t have to bring your hiking boots to have fun here.
Around a half hour drive west is the Red Ridge Centre, where you and your group can try your hand at archery, abseiling, kayaking, paddle boarding and zip wiring, to name but a few of the outdoor pursuits on offer. For a less physically taxing day, why not head over to Corris Craft centre to visit award-winning Dyfi Distillery, or to Y Tabernacle in Machynlleth, to Wales’ Museum of Modern Art to experience a different kind of beauty, before heading back to the artistry of the treehouse and its stunning surrounding.
Machynlleth, the ancient capital of Wales, is just 5 miles away, which boasts museums, pubs, cafes and a fantastic Wednesday market selling local foods. Visit in May for the famous Machynlleth Comedy festival. Go further along the coast road to Borth and, on the way, find the Cors Dyfi Osprey project in the nature reserve or drive another 20 mins to the lovely seaside town of Aberystwyth. In the opposite direction, Aberdyfi offers a variety of quaint shops and delectable places to dine. For the golfers why not try the 18-hole Links golf course at Aberdyfi, a regular venue for national competitions.
This property can be booked with Hengoed (QU1709), Gwdw Hw (QU7110), Lofty (QU7111), Bryn Meurig Bach (QU7113) and Pen y Bryn (QU7114) to accomodate up to 30 guests.
