Raithby Hall is a Grade II listed building and has a splendid location in the rolling, historic Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although built in 1760, some parts of the house date back to 1604. It was extended by Sir George Gilbert Scott to become the magnificent and well-proportioned hall it is today and it has been at the centre of Lincolnshire life ever since. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, stayed many a time at the Hall. The Grade I listed chapel in the grounds is one of the oldest Methodist chapels in England that is still in use today. Raithby Hall was described by John Wesley as ’a palace in the midst of paradise’, and said that ’Preaching here in this chapel is something very special’. Another famous visitor, Lord Alfred Tennyson, was born 11 miles from Raithby, and is said to have visited Raithby Hall many times.
