The open plan living area, with large picture windows, lets the light flood in and allows you to fully appreciate the beautiful setting right on the banks of the River Dryfe in the small, serene rural village of Boreland, just a few miles north of Lockerbie. Overlooking beautiful countryside, it is the ideal spot in which to relax and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
There is plenty to do in the area though if you want to explore. Just over the river you can try riding lessons and carriage driving at the Chariots of Fire Driving Centre, all abilities are welcome. There are some lovely walks right from the doorstep as well as others a short drive away, including the Annandale Way. Dumfries and Galloway has every type of scenery for your perfect walk, from heathery uplands, peaceful forests and rolling countryside, to wide sandy shores, all stunning in their own right. If you fancy being on two wheels instead, four of the 7Stanes mountain biking centres are within easy reach and offer world class trails. For a more sedate walk, why not work your way around one of the several golf courses within a 30-minute drive. The area has a fascinating history which you can explore in the many varied castles and museums including the amusingly named Devils Porridge Museum. Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery is just 15-minute drive away and you can visit all year round. Dumfries and Galloway has many sites of national and international importance for wildlife including Castle Loch on the outskirts of Lochmaben, one of the earliest Local Nature Reserves (LNR) and the highly popular Eskrigg Nature Reserve on the edge of Lockerbie.
Lockerbie is a 10-minute drive away and Moffat is a 15–20-minute drive, both providing all the local amenities you would expect, as well as some lovely restaurants and independent shops.
