The main living area has comfortable sofas and a TV to enjoy your favourite programs on after a busy day exploring, or why not use the snug area which has seating for those wanting to just relax, read or play games? The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern amenities you need to cook delicious meals during your stay. Royds Diary Cottage has the benefit of the first bedroom being located on the ground floor, making it easily accessible for those who may have difficulty with stairs. The other three bedrooms are on the first floor, the master bedroom has a beautiful four poster bed and en-suite facilities, and the other two offer a double and a twin. The bedrooms are all tastefully decorated, with comfortable beds and good quality linens to ensure a good night’s sleep. Each room has ample storage space for your belongings, and the windows provide plenty of natural light. Outside, there is a charming garden with a patio area and outdoor furniture, where you can relax and soak up the sunshine. The garden area is perfect, and it offers a lovely space for al fresco dining on warm summer evenings.
The cottage has a rural setting, but is also conveniently located near local amenities, including shops, restaurants, and pubs. Elsecar is a historic village with plenty of things to see and do, including a Heritage Centre which is packed with shops, cafés, delicatessens, and antiques. There’s also a park, reservoir, nature reserve and even a CAMRA awarded craft ale and bottle shop. Wentworth Woodhouse is a hidden gem within walking distance through woodland, and it’s the longest fronted house in the UK (longer than Buckingham Palace), and has been used as the backdrop for several TV productions including ’Downton Abbey’, ’The Irregulars’, ’Victoria’ and ’Gentleman Jack’.
Other attractions easily accessible include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, award-winning Cannon Hall, Chatsworth House, and the town of Bakewell.
