Runnerfoot Cottage was completely renovated in 2021 making it a cosy and comfortable little cottage in the small village of Gilsland.
Runnerfoot Cottage is quaint and quirky cottage and is delightfully decorated and furnished throughout, on entering the bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor and stairs lead up to a hallway from where you can access the garden terrace which overlooks the village. On the first floor is a peaceful sitting room, kitchen and single bedroom. It is a beautiful little haven for a relaxing holiday. The garden for the property is a small terrace. There isn’t a secure area to let a dog out but plenty of walks very close by.
Gilsland is a small village, with an excellent local pub that straddles the border between Northumberland and Cumbria and is situated on the iconic Hadrian’s Wall which is the ideal location for exploring the Eden Valley, the North Pennines and the Scottish Borders. A walk along Hadrian’s Wall is a must while enjoying your stay at Runnerfoot Cottage, which can be taken quite literally straight from your doorstep. If you are walking or cycling along Hadrian’s Wall from Runnerfoot Cottage, Birdoswald Roman Fort is the perfect place to stop. Picturesquely set by the River Irthing this section of the World Heritage Site include the longest continuous stretch of the wall, a Roman fort and a priory made from stones found on Hadrian’s Wall. Also close to Northumberland National Park Runnerfoot Cottage really is the perfect base to explore the area.
