Redcar regularly hosts horse racing giving you an excuse to dress up and have a flutter, and special events often take place at Kirkleatham Museum in the summer months. In Redcar there are arcades, a great selection of shops and cafés as well as the beach to enjoy. The next resort along the coast is Saltburn-by-the-Sea which itself boasts a picturesque promenade and pier. Saltburn attracts surfers and fishermen as well as those wanting to spend time building sand castles. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink on top of the cliff.
Redcar is just on the edge of the North York Moors National Park so is ideally situated for those who want to sample some of the prettiest countryside in the county, with its hundreds of pubs and restaurants serving home cooked food and a warming welcome in most villages.
