The bustling town centre of Redcar is only steps away. The apartment is just on the promenade so you have many amenities and attractions nearby. Redcar regularly hosts horse racing giving you an excuse to dress up and have a flutter, and special events often take place at Kirkleatham Museum in the summer months. In Redcar there are arcades, a great selection of shops and cafés as well as the beach to enjoy. The next resort along the coast is Saltburn-by-the-Sea which itself boasts a picturesque promenade and pier. Saltburn attracts surfers and fishermen as well as those wanting to spend time building sand castles. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink on top of the cliff.
Redcar is just on the edge of the North York Moors National Park so is ideally situated for those who want to sample some of the prettiest countryside in the county, with its hundreds of pubs and restaurants serving home cooked food and a warming welcome in most villages. Take a nostalgic ride on the steam train that chugs its way from Whitby deep into the heart of the North York Moors, ‘Heartbeat’ country and Pickering. Alternatively, explore the many bays and coves along the heritage coast such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay or Staithes. Each has its own historical story of pirates and smuggling.
The harbour town of Whitby is just 20 miles away and is an experience of its own. Home of Whitby Abbey which was made famous by Bram Stoker’s ’Dracula’, cobbled back streets, quirky shops and Whitby harbour. Keep an eye out for the many festivals and events held here each year from a regatta to a Goth festival, or take a sea fishing trip on one of the many tourist boats. Redcar is served by a great road network which means you can visit attractions such as Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land or Beamish Museum in a day and be home in time for a relaxing drink watching the waves from the comfort of your living room.
Just like Sea View, I know film locations are attractions for tourists. Back in 2007, Regency Mansion and the sea front was a film location to the award winning (including Oscar Award) winning film ‘Attornment’. The Dunkirk scene, ‘HOTEL L’HIRONDALE’ in the film Attornment is ‘the Regency Mansions’ today. The property building previously known as Coatham Hotel, Redcar. Once upon a time the Coatham Hotel was the stage to many well-known Jazz performers like Eric Clapton. Beach 1 mile.
