Snowdrop Cottage is nestled near the scenic harbour at Lower Town, on the edge the market town of Fishguard. This pretty cottage has been renovated fully by the owners in 2022 to a very good standard and offers the perfect cottage to uncover the delights of this north Pembrokeshire coastline with its many coves, bays and beaches waiting to be enjoyed. The River Gwaun meanders through the valley and meets at the pretty harbour in the village where you can enjoy a freshly brewed coffee and home-made cake from the café whilst overlooking this delightful harbour or sample the delights of The Ship Inn. The market town of Fishguard a short stroll away is really worth exploring, complete with coffee shops, pubs and restaurants, butchers, theatre and a grocery shop and is set above Goodwick Harbour.
Snowdrop Cottage has been renovated to a very good standard throughout by the current owners retaining its original character and charm. The galley style kitchen is well equipped and boasts solid wood worktops, dishwasher and sink, and leads out to the terraced garden, which is a real feature of the property with its wonderful views of the Gwaun Valley. The dining room with its original wood beams is perfect for formal dining and celebrations. The bright and airy living room also boasts original wooden beams complete with a smart TV, perfect for watching a good movie with a glass of wine.
From your doorstep you can take a short stroll to the quay with its magnificent panorama of pretty little yachts and fishing boats, and friendly ducks where the River Gwaun meets the sea and fishing for crabs off the Quay wall is a real favourite. In addition, there are a number of glorious walks right from your doorstep, including along the River Gwaun through the wooded valley, and the coastal path in both directions. There’s an old fort to the north with breath-taking views across the bay, as well as the Marine Walk, which skirts around the Fishguard coast. You’ll also have access to some of the 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, passing golden sandy beaches, coves and dramatic coastline.
The rugged North Pembrokeshire coastline is perfect for the chance of spotting a dolphin or puffins with boat trips leaving regularly from nearby Cardigan. Inland, you may stumble across the majestic Cenarth Falls, which if you time it right in the autumn, you can see the salmon and sea trout leaping up the falls which really is a magnificent sight. The famous walled town of Tenby makes for a great day out, along with Wales’ largest theme park Oakwood, and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo.
