Arundel, which is less than 5 miles away, is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops, as well as restaurants and tea rooms, making It a great place to wander and just enjoy the streets lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings. The town plays host to some of Sussex’s most popular annual events including Arundel Arts and Food Festivals, the cathedral’s Feast of Corpus Christi and magnificent Carpet of Flowers.
Why not take the opportunity to visit the Arundel Wetland and Wildlife Centre? This area is a series of naturalised lakes, ponds and channels, each offering wetlands habitats for wildlife and wildfowl from around the world. Spot water voles from the boat safari, hand feed rare geese at World Wetlands and stroll the gentle pathways to quiet spots to watch Sussex wildlife.
Chichester, the cathedral city of Sussex, is just a 15-minute drive away and has delightful, cobbled pedestrianised streets with an abundance of shops, restaurants, leisure facilities and the ornate cathedral and Festival Theatre. The beaches at Climping and Littlehampton are around 6 miles away. Climping is a beautiful unspoilt beach of Special Scientific Interest. At its eastern end, beside the mouth of the River Arun in Littlehampton, the West Beach Café was built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally. It is worth a visit as the fish and chips come highly recommended! Pub within a mile.
