Springburn Cottage is full of character and history, and the Irish playwright, George Bernard Shaw, once stayed here. Built in 1898, this adorable detached cottage is located in the Highland village of Strachur on the banks of Loch Fyne in Argyll. Lovingly restored, it is full of country charm. The living room is warm and inviting with an open fire and wooden floor, whilst the country kitchen/dining room is a lovely space with an ornamental fireplace, beamed ceiling and a quarry-tiled floor. The bathroom and utility room are also downstairs. There’s a steep staircase to first floor where there are two spacious double bedrooms, one with an ornamental fireplace and a sofa bed. The cottage lies in the grounds of the owners’ home, but has its own sitting-out area with garden furniture. The gardens are well manicured and the views are simply marvellous.
The cottage is just 100 yards from Loch Fyne’s beach, and there is plenty to do, from walking to boating and fishing; tennis courts can also be found 1½ miles away. It’s also well placed to explore the rest of this lovely part of the west coast of Scotland. Beach 100 yards. Shop and pub 1½ miles.
