Perched right on the shore of a beautiful lake known as Sweethope Lough, extensively renowned for its trout and fly fishing, nestles this pair of "single storey crofts", which provide charming self catering holiday cottages in an idyllic setting. Built with traditional Northumbrian stone this pair of cottages offers a truly rural hideaway with a unique view. Surrounded by miles of open countryside and woodland the properties are positioned on the exclusive Ray Demesne Estate. Formerly owned by the great inventor and industrialist "Newcastle" born "Charles Parsons", the Estate was purchased by Viscount Devonport’s family in 1954. The Estate has since been painstakingly restored and developed over the years by Lord Devonport.
Sweethope Loughs are consisting of two Loughs; Little Lough being 12 acres and the Great Lough an impressive 140 acres. Sweethope Crofts are positioned on the southern edge of the Little Lough.
The accommodation within each cottage is conveniently all on ground floor level and although they can be booked independently, an interlinking door can be unlocked to accommodate the gathering of families and friends. The living space is open plan with exposed beams to retain their character. The cottages are situated in a tranquil and secluded location on the edge of Sweethope Lough, but they are within a few hundred metres of the Sweethope activities, which include fishing and boating, so areas near the cottages can be busy, particularly in the summer months. Relax in front of the cosy wood-burning stove and watch the flames dance after a day exploring the flora and fauna that surrounds Sweethope Crofts.
