Sycamore Cottage was built in the late 1800s and was originally a cow byre used for milking a dairy herd. The building was converted to a holiday cottage in the mid-1970s and modernised to a contemporary style in 2017. A cosy property, ideally suited to couples, but accommodating four people, it offers open plan living, dining and kitchen areas, two good sized bedrooms and a shower room with a walk-in shower. The cottage also has an outdoor terrace offering an amazing view down to the coast and Runswick Bay. The cottage has a shared yard and drive, used by two adjacent properties. For families travelling with babies or toddlers, the cottage has a baby bath, changing mat, potty, toilet training seat and step if required. For those with limited mobility, a seat for use in the shower can be provided, upon request.
Borrowby is a quiet hamlet located off the beaten track, in an isolated location, with no shop or pub. However, we are located within the North York Moors National Park, overlook the Yorkshire Heritage Coast and are close to the Cleveland Hills. Overall, it’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and Sycamore Cottage is a great starting point from which to explore.
The historic towns of Whitby and Guisborough are just 20 minutes’ drive away. Scarborough is about an hour’s drive away and York can be reached within an hour and a half.
For local convenience, there is a pub at Roxby, 5-minute drive/15-minute walk, or a small shop, chip shop, pubs, and a bus stop at Staithes, approximately 10 minutes’ drive away. A fuel station, butchers’ shop and pubs can be found at Hinderwell, a 5-minute drive from Staithes. Beach 2 miles.
