From the apartment you can walk down through the Italian Gardens to the Scarborough Spa and the seafront. Alternatively catch the cliff lift, the first funicular railway in Great Britain. Along the seafront there is a long marine drive, which is a great place for a leisurely walk with over 3 miles of flat walking. The beach has areas where you can take your dog as well as dog-free areas, where the children can enjoy building sandcastles and playing in the sand. The traditional donkey rides are still very popular along with the candy floss stalls and amusements.
Scarborough has so much for all age groups from the Alpamare Waterpark, with its slides and wave pools, to the beautiful Peasholm Park where you can hire pedalos and rowing boats on the lake. Scarborough Open Air Theatre is one of the largest in Europe and hosts international acts throughout the summer. There is also the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Alan Ayckbourn’s premieres. Scarborough is host to the yearly county cricket festival and you can spend a leisurely day watching cricket at its best.
