This delightful rural holiday cottage provides accommodation for couples wishing to enjoy the delights of Shropshire and the glorious countryside near to the Welsh Borders. The Bothy is set within a Victorian walled garden and is only 3 miles from Shrewsbury town centre.
The cottage has been thoughtfully designed and decorated. It has an open-plan living space with a large comfortable 2 seater sofa, armchair, wood burner, and dining for four people. The well-equipped kitchen includes a microwave, dishwasher, and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a washing machine. The bedroom sleeps two and has a kingsize bed along with built-in wardrobes.
To the rear of the cottage is a sheltered private patio that overlooks the beautifully maintained owners’ gardens. With patio furniture and a BBQ, this wonderful sun trap allows guests to relax after a long day exploring all that Shropshire has to offer.
Shrewsbury is one of England’s finest medieval market towns, boasting over 600 listed buildings, plenty of timber-framed black and white buildings, the castle, now a regimental museum, Shrewsbury Abbey, and the 18th Century Shrewsbury Prison. The River Severn forms a loop around the town centre offering gentle riverside walks or a trip on the pleasure boat, Sabrina. If you fancy a bite to eat or a bit of retail therapy the town offers a wide selection of gastro pubs and eateries and interesting boutique shops.
For guests who enjoy the outdoors, the Shropshire Hills and nearby north Wales offer an abundance of scenic walking and cycle routes that are worth exploring any time of the year.
Easily accessible is Church Stretton and the National Trust’s Carding Mill Valley which is pretty waterfall. Ludlow, framed by the gentle Clee Hills, has an impressive castle, magnificent church, many half-timbered buildings, and Georgian red-brick houses. Bridgnorth has the steepest cliff railway in Britain and during summer you can catch the Severn Valley Railway’s steam train which chugs the scenic 16-mile route to Kidderminster. Attingham Park (National Trust), Powys Castle (National Trust), Ironbridge Gorge, and the old market town of Much Wenlock (with its medieval priory) are all within easy driving distance.
