Situated by beautiful Carsaig Bay on the Sound of Jura, and one mile from the picturesque fishing village of Tayvallich on the shores of Loch Sween, The Byre is a barn conversion which has been tastefully renovated by the owners and offers a great base for family and friends to enjoy the sea and explore the surrounding areas.
The rooms are all on the ground floor with a kitchen/dining room/deck area, a separate living room with a wood burner to enjoy in the evening, and plenty of outside space in the 1¾ acre garden where you can enjoy your morning cuppa or relax after a busy day with the family with a glass of wine in hand watching the kids play in the garden. There are three double bedrooms, whilst the fourth has bunk beds that are 5ft 10in long.
A short walk from the cottage, across the track, over a stile and down a wee path, you will come to a wonderful, secluded picnic/barbecue area from where you can watch the sunset behind the Island of Jura. A four-minute walk from the cottage is Carsaig Bay which is known for its spectacular beach and bay with much sand revealed at low tide. This is a wonderful starting point for kayaks, SUPs and sailing dinghies to enjoy the sea, explore nearby pristine bays, spot seals and cormorants and go mackerel fishing.
There are many forestry walks in and around the peninsula, and the track by The Byre is ideal for mountain biking or walking up to Crinan Harbour, six miles north. Tayvallich is idyllically set around a perfect natural harbour and is known to the yachting community who moor up and come ashore to eat or have a wee dram in the local inn. There are many artists living and working in the Tayvallich area where, by appointment, you will find paintings, prints, photographs and basketwork. Tayvallich is a vibrant village where you will build fond memories and you and your children will always remember beautiful Carsaig Bay. Village shop and café, restaurant within 1 mile. Supermarket shopping in Lochgilphead, 12 miles. Beach within 330 yards.
