The spacious living/dining room is the heart of the house, featuring a beautiful woodburner that creates a cosy welcoming environment on chilly evenings. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals. There is a downstairs bathroom while upstairs you’ll find two large tastefully furnished bedrooms, each offering a peaceful retreat with views over the surrounding countryside. The master bedroom is particularly enchanting with a double bed and ensuite toilet, the second bedroom offers two single beds.
Outside, the large garden is an oasis of tranquillity, with plenty of space for alfresco dining, leisurely walks, or simply enjoying the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
East Bergholt, on the banks of the river stour, is the birthplace of the famous painter John Constable and is referred to as Constable Country in the area known as the Dedham Vale area of natural beauty, great for walking, cycling, bird and wildlife spotting. A visit to Willy Lotts cottage is recommended, which is depicted in Constable’s most famous painting as a delight, or why not take a picnic and hire a rowing boat to explore the countryside? A short drive away is the oldest recorded town of Colchester with its famous castle and castle park that hold regular events throughout the summer months, alongside a museum, theatre, gallery, shops and restaurants. Not forgetting the popular Colchester Zoo, a place not to miss for a day of family fun. If you fancy a day at the coast pop along to Mersea Island, be aware that it gets cut off in high tide. Famous for its oysters, you will find seafood restaurants, pubs, shops, and great walks along the estuary. For a more traditional seaside town pop along to Southend on sea which has the famous pier and amusement arcades, Old Leigh is just a bit further afield with a tip here feeling like stepping back in time with its cobbled streets and fish stalls.
Whether you’re exploring the picturesque countryside, visiting nearby historic sites, or simply relaxing in the comfort of a beautifully restored home, The Cottage is the perfect base for making memories that last a lifetime.
Please note: There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property.
