There are four studio apartments, sleeping up to two guests, perfect for a couple’s relaxing retreat in Hadrian’s Wall country. From here you can explore southern Scotland, Gretna outlet village, historic Carlisle, as well as The Northern Lakes and Western Fells, all within half an hour’s drive. It’s a great base for keen walkers and people who like the outdoors. It’s on a major cycle way and popular with guests doing the coast-to-coast walk, either as a stopover or an interesting break to the journey. Bowness-on-Solway is part of the Solway Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ideal for walkers and cyclists and rich in wildlife and birds for nature lovers. Nearby is Hadrian’s Wall, which dates from the early second century AD.
Running through Bowness-on-Solway is cycle route 72, known as ‘Hadrian’s Cycleway’; if you love cycling, you’ll love this part of Cumbria. In Bowness-on-Solway there is a tearoom and a pub serving local ales and great food within walking distance. You have several cafés and restaurants in Silloth which is a nice drive along the coast, where you have arguably the best golf course in Cumbria. There are plenty of activities nearby, a public swimming pool, alpaca walks, climbing walls and plenty of culture to take in, including the Rum Story, go karting at Maryport and Carlisle Castle to name a few. If you like lakes and mountains, you are about 30 minutes from The Lake District National Park and about 55 minutes’ drive from Keswick. Berach 500 yards.
