The Larches is a four bedroomed detached cottage at Seldom Seen in Thornthwaite, a truly tranquil location. Surrounded by woodland on the slopes of Whinlatter forest the cottage is a perfect ’away from it all’ retreat with the delight of visiting red squirrels. It has the most fantastic summer house (or belvedere) with a deck at the top of its fellside garden, which has chairs, table and lighting. It has superb views across the Derwent marshes and to the distant fells. You can walk or cycle from the doorstep and sail on the lake at Bassenthwaite. There is an art gallery and coffee shop in the village and pubs, restaurants and a shop in the neighbouring village of Braithwaite and an abundance of amenities in nearby Keswick. The accommodation is upside down with the living space upstairs is 27ft long with paintings by local artists and benefits from the views towards Skiddaw and Clough Head. See the cottage’s website www.lakelandbelvedere.com for more fascinating details and photos.
