The Alpamare waterpark is just a few minutes’ walk away, as is Peasholm Park, where you can enjoy the lakes and gardens, or have a go on the pedalos or rowing boats. You can even watch the brass bands that play throughout the summer. Once a week in the summer, there is a re-enactment of a warship battle using model boats on the lake which has been enjoyed by many children and adults alike, over the years. The Open Air Theatre, the largest in Europe, is a 5-minute walk away, where you can see famous acts entertaining throughout the summer.
The resorts of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey and Flamborough Head are all just a short drive away. Bempton Cliffs, home to the RSPB bird sanctuary, is also worth a visit. Here you will find thousands of migrating sea birds perched on the clifftops. The cliffs are famous for the puffins and people travel from worldwide to visit this site.
