You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll along to Whitby’s Harbour Lighthouse or hook your catch of the day along the Pier. Within the town you will be spoilt for choice for things to do, with panoramic views atop the 199 Steps, the wonders of the Gothic Whitby Abbey, the fun-filled Dracula Experience, the picturesque Pannett Park, home to the Whitby Museum, and the Endeavour tall-ship in the harbour. No stay in Whitby is complete without a visit to one of the many award winning seafood restaurants, you can’t get fish and chips much fresher than this!
For a truly memorable day out, why not take a boat trip to spot the local marine life? As well as seals and seabirds you may even see a porpoise if you are lucky. Keen walkers and outdoor enthusiasts will delight at the easy access to the fabulous surroundings of the North York Moors National Park, where you can visit Mulgrave Castle, tackle The Wainstones, and enjoy walks through the wooded river valleys and hikes through the vast moorlands. Be sure to visit Scarborough, home to an impressive castle, the attractions of Alpamare waterpark and spa, as well as one of Europe’s largest open-air theatres.
