This detached cottage, which is all on one level and set on a working farm, is a real home from home, and is warm and welcoming at any time of the year. The Old Shepherd’s Cottage is a great location to combine a rural escape with a city break. Dynamic Dundee, home of the only V&A museum outside London, St Andrew’s, the home of golf, and Perth for great shopping and places to eat, are within easy reach. Explore Falkland and Culross, attractive historic villages and ’Outlander’ locations, Dunfermline, the capital of Scotland until the 17th century, and the picturesque East Neuk with its sandy beaches, coastal walks and picture postcard villages. Edinburgh is less than an hour’s drive or train journey away.
The cottage is beautifully presented throughout. There are two attractive bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with twin beds with a third bed suitable for a child. The cosy living room has a wood burner and is a great place to relax and spend a lazy afternoon with a good book. The kitchen is well quipped and offers plenty of space to dine as well as good quality appliances. Outside, the enclosed garden with outside seating area is perfect for sitting in after a day playing golf or walking.
Enjoy the wildlife and young farm animals in season, soak in the view and watch the world go by. Walk out into the countryside from the cottage and there are miles of rough tracks and footpaths to explore. At the end of the lane there is a regular bus service to St Andrews if you want to leave the car behind. As well as championship golf courses, the city has two sandy beaches and a pretty harbour. There is much to explore in this historic city with galleries, a cinema, quality places to eat and local and independent shops. Just a short drive takes you to traditional market town of Cupar which sits on the banks of the River Eden. This fascinating town has much to offer with port gates and medieval closes, and has plenty of fine places to eat and a particularly fine selection of independent shops. For a family day out, visit the Scottish Deer Centre or pack a picnic and head off to the sandy beaches at Tentsmuir Forest, which is also home to a grey seal colony. At the end of the farm road, about ½ mile, there is a country pub with a beer garden, and serving afternoon teas. Family days out nearby are Muddyboots Farm park which is 5 minutes along the road, Cairnie fruit farm in Cupar, Craigtoun Country Park, St Andrews.
