The Old Telephone Exchange is peacefully situated nearby to the woodland at Mamhead, Haldon Forest and is within a 14 minute drive to the nearest beach at Dawlish Warren. This one-bedroom holiday home is the perfect countryside retreat for a small family, couple or solo adventurer wanting to be near the coast but also with plenty of fantastic walks nearby. The open plan kitchen, living area, bedroom and shower room are located on the ground floor. The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric induction hob, standard microwave, convection oven microwave, fridge/ freezer and a small table and chairs seating two guests. The living area is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day exploring the local area, so kick back and watch a film on the TV with freeview and a DVD player or listen to the stereo. The bedroom area has a double bed and patio doors leading to the garden and it is accessed from the living area via a curtain which can be pulled across. There are also two sofa beds in the living area. The wet room is fitted with an open shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink. There is a small mezzanine area in the bedroom which has an additional double mattress on the floor, however it isn’t advisable for guests to use this as the staircase is very steep and the headroom is limited. The garden at the back of the property is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee in the sun. It has outdoor seating, a charcoal barbecue and spectacular views overlooking the surrounding fields and the valley below. The garden is partially enclosed however small pets may be able to escape through small gaps.
Guests will most likely spot the nearby wildlife which regularly includes deer, hares and more! With very little traffic passing by and no street lighting, the area is an ideal retreat for stargazing. Supermarkets, restaurants, a fish and chip shop, pub and local shops are just three miles away in the local village of Cockwood. Situated in one of South Devon’s most beautiful areas, you will be able to stroll and explore the nearby woodland, which is just across the field, or enjoy some delightful country lane walks direct from the property. An ideal position for touring South Devon, there is a lovely beach at Dawlish Warren less than 5 miles away, as well as the nearby beaches of Teignmouth, Exmouth and Torbay. The wild bird sanctuary and reserve at Dawlish Warren is nearby, as is rugged Dartmoor, a haven for wildlife, wild ponies and more strenuous walks. The cathedral city of Exeter is a short easy drive and offers a range of popular shops and boutiques, restaurants, theatre, cinemas and other leisure facilities. Close by, there are other attractions to suit all tastes as well as numerous National Trust properties and gardens. The 3,500 acre Haldon Hills Forest Park is just 5 minutes drive away and is criss-crossed with walking and cycling trails for all abilities, perfectly completed by brunch or a luscious slice of cake in the café.
