The Parlour is a beautiful property set in 60 acres of pasture and woodland. Once the milking parlour for the farm, it is a fantastic space with bags of character, combining old-world charm with modern-day comforts.
Step out of the rear entrance and overlook the fields and lake, just a few hundred yards away. Here you are a world away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. With public footpaths on the land and beyond, explore by foot and admire the beautiful scenery.
Located just outside the village of Cowbeech, which lies within the Civil Parish of Herstmonceux, heritage and history flow throughout. The Merrie Harriers local village pub, with 16th-century origins, has far-reaching views over the Sussex countryside, making it the perfect place to relax.
There are plenty of activities in the area, including Herstmonceux Castle and The Observatory Science Centre. Visit The South Downs National Park, which offers a number of activities, including bike rides through the forest, or boat trips where you can observe the famous cliffs of Beachy Head.
Foodies can enjoy local delights including delis, pubs and restaurants. Vineyard tours, locally reared meats and local cheeses, freshly landed fish and locally grown vegetables are available. For the arts and culture, the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings and Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne are great places to start. Charleston House (home to the Bloomsbury group), Farley Farmhouse and Gallery (home of the surrealists), Great Dixter House and Gardens and Batemans (home of Rudyard Kipling) are all nearby.
Although you could truly lose yourself in the wonderful countryside, there are good train connections to Eastbourne, Hastings, Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and London. Services from three local stations are all within 12 miles of The Parlour. To explore by car, the nearest beach is 10 miles away at Pevensey. Eastbourne and Hastings are a 20 to 30-minute drive, and Brighton can be reached in 50 minutes.
There is a local village shop 1½ miles away in Rushlake Green, and the Merrie Harriers pub and restaurant under a mile away in Cowbeech.
