Fabulously positioned next to the track at Hexham Racecourse, guests at The Racecourse Lodge will be able to enjoy a unique holiday in a great location. Absolutely ideal for racing enthusiasts and horse lovers, The Racecourse Lodge offers guests the experience of enjoying their holiday on a working racecourse. Widely regarded as Britain’s most scenic racecourse, the stands provide a great view of the horses as well as the fabulous scenery that surrounds the site. Situated 600 feet above the thriving town of Hexham, the steeplechase course hosts around fifteen race meetings a year and always offers a warm and friendly welcome.
All on one level and comfortably furnished throughout, this lodge offers guests a great base for relaxing and enjoying their break. The living/dining room is compact and cosy with a good quality sofa and extendable dining table. Being located so close to Hexham with its many pubs, restaurants and cafés it is unlikely that guests will want to cook elaborate meals themselves but the kitchen offers a fridge, electric oven, microwave and all of the essential items required for a self-catering break. With three twin bedrooms all offering lovely views of the surrounding countryside, guests will be spoilt for choice as to which one to choose and the fact that there are two separate shower rooms makes this the perfect base for friends wanting to enjoy a holiday together. Built in 2012 and designed to accommodate the needs of all people, the lodge is perfect for families and couples too.
Situated just over 2 miles away from the centre of Hexham, which is packed with attractions to visit all year round including Hexham Abbey, Hexham Old Gaol and sporting facilities including a bowling alley, athletics track and swimming pool. A brilliant spot for walkers and cyclists too, there are many walks, footpaths and cyclepaths that pass by the racecourse and out into Hexham and beyond. Only a few miles north of the town, guests will be able to visit Hadrian’s Wall and take a walk along this historic site that stretches over 70 miles. Guests will be able to explore ruined forts, museums and a Roman town along the way. Chesters Roman Fort and Museum, Birdoswald Roman Fort, Housesteads Roman Fort, Vindolanda and The Sill all offer a brilliant insight into the history of the area and make a great day out for guests of all ages. A few miles further is the popular town of Corbridge which is known for its chic shops and eateries as well as riverside walks and cycle paths.
Newcastle upon Tyne, The Metrocentre and the cathedral city of Durham are within an easy 40-minute drive, and the beautiful beaches of the Northumberland coastline can be reached in a little over an hour. There’s so much to enjoy right on the doorstep and just a few miles further, The Racecourse Lodge boasts a location that really can’t be beaten. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
