Oswestry’s Iron Age Hill Fort is an ancient site offering panoramic views. There are four National Trust Properties within easy reach being, Chirk Castle, Attingham Park, Shrewsbury, Powis Castle Welshpool, Erddig, Wrexham. The famous Offa’s Dyke provides scenic walking and the Unesco listed Froncysyllte and Chirk Aqueducts offer unique experiences.
The picturesque Ceiriog Valley is nearby, and the scenic town of Llangollen is renowned for its white water rafting, steam railway and Eisteddfod festival. Pistyll Rhaeadr, Britain’s tallest waterfall is ideal for a day walking and exploring. Shropshire’s lake district at Ellesmere offers walks around the lakes and excellent bird watching opportunities.
The Tudor town of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin is a delight to visit.
