Welcome to The Wee House, a Grade II listed sixteenth-century fisherman’s cottage nestled in the charming fishing village of West Looe. This unique, quirky property spans three floors and offers a delightful blend of historic charm and modern comfort, making it an ideal hideaway for your seaside break. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a fully equipped kitchen and open-plan dining area, complete with a feature fireplace that sets a cosy, inviting atmosphere. The kitchen provides all the essentials for your culinary adventures, ensuring you can enjoy home-cooked meals during your stay. Adjacent is the living room, where another feature fireplace adds to the cottage’s character. This space is perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring, with comfortable seating for relaxing with a good book or enjoying a movie night.
Venture up the steep, winding stairs to the second floor, where you’ll find a charming bedroom with a bunk bed and a single bed, perfect for children or additional guests. The family bathroom on this floor features a corner bath with a shower, offering a relaxing spot to refresh after a day at the beach. You’ll also find a washing machine neatly tucked away in a cupboard, providing added convenience for your stay. Continue further up the winding stairway to the top level of the house, which contains the master bedroom with a king-size bed. This retreat offers a peaceful haven for restful nights.
The Wee House is steeped in history featuring many original features and has been sympathetically modernised to ensure a comfortable stay making it ideal for couples or a family of four. Parking is available at a reasonable cost in the nearby Millpool car park. West Looe, although not as busy as neighbouring East Looe, contains cafes, restaurants, shops and one of Britain’s oldest pubs, the Jolly Sailor all within 200 metres of The Wee House. Just a short walk over the bridge takes you into the narrow cobbled streets and alleyways of East Looe with an abundance of restaurants and bars to explore as well as Looe’s famous Banjo Pier and stunning sandy beach, popular with families due to its safe shallow water for swimming. There are many walks including the southwest coast path which takes you along the coast to Talland Bay and on to the picturesque fishing village of Polperro. The Wee House offers a charming and historic escape and is the perfect coastal retreat in an ideal location for exploring this beautiful area of Cornwall.
Please note: There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property.
