Stroll along the riverside promenade, relax with an ice cream or hire a boat and spend an afternoon ‘messing about on the river’! Just upstream visit Nidd Gorge, a great place for walks and wildlife watching. Explore the elegant spa town of Harrogate, 4 miles, with its Royal Pump Room, restored Turkish baths, theatre, wonderful shops and tearooms (with Betty’s heading the list). For a good day out, the medieval city of York is just half an hour’s drive away. Steeped in history and packed with attractions including the iconic minster and Jorvik Centre, York appeals to all ages.
