A very picturesque Westmoreland farmhouse dating from 1750. It has lots of beautiful traditional features with its original oak floors and panelling, thick oak ceiling beams and slate flag floors. This is complimented with lots of modern comforts to provide a relaxing holiday for eight people.
The house is comfortably furnished with extensive seating. There are Turkish rugs and kilims on the floors. The house has a plentiful supply of books, games, and jigsaws. With a full library of books about the area and walking guides. And there’s even a piano for when it’s raining.
The garden is large, over an acre with lots of room for children and dogs to play. There are two outdoor seating areas, one in front of the house to get the sun at breakfast and one behind the conservatory to catch the light at sunset.
Located in the peaceful Rusland Valley, Thwaite Bridge House lies halfway between Newby Bridge and Hawkeshead (5 miles from each) The Rusland Valley is quiet, with very little traffic and is one of the most peaceful valleys in the whole lakes. Yet is only a short drive to the Grizedale Forest visitors centre and Beatrix Potter’s cottage in Near Sawrey. The nearest villages are Satterthwaite and Oxen Park, both with good pubs. As the crow flies it is 3 miles to Coniston Water and 2 miles to Lake Windermere. You can go hiking from the front door up to Rusland Heights with views across the whole South Lakeland Fells from Coniston Old Man to Fairfield Horseshoe, then onto High Dam Lake for a swim.
