Harbottle is a welcoming village situated only 8 miles from the pretty picture perfect small town of Rothbury, found nestled at the foot of the Simonside Hills, sitting on the banks of the trout and salmon rich River Coquet. The Upper Coquet Valley is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. It offers many facilities including tea rooms, pubs, shops, restaurants, cafés and a riverside 18-hole golf course.
The National Trust property at Cragside is a popular visitor attraction and is full of original and interesting objects with stunning gardens. The historic market town of Alnwick with its dramatic castle, which is home to the Duke of Northumberland and used for some scenes in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, is 20 miles east. The Alnwick Garden is also well worth a visit close to the castle which was founded by the Duchess. The Heritage Coastline, recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a lovely day out peppered with castles and miles of golden beaches.
