Two Chimneys is an attractive, traditional Lakeland terraced cottage dating back to the 1800s. It is situated on a quiet lane with no through traffic, at the end of a small row of former farm cottages. It’s only a stone’s throw from the banks of the River Greta and close to the popular railway line footpath/cycle path which runs between Keswick and Threlkeld.
It is less than 10 minutes level walk from the centre of Keswick. The cottage has very comfortable, well-presented accommodation, with the added benefit of private parking. The driveway for 1-2 cars is at the side of the house, with easy access through the kitchen entrance for unloading luggage. There is also space for one car in front of the house. There is a sunny garden down the side and back of the house, with Honister slate and planted borders, and a picnic bench for outdoor meals. There is a large, lockable shed for storing bikes, which also houses a table football game for rainy days and more garden furniture. Please note that the neighbouring 3 houses have a right of access through the garden to reach the back of their houses.
There is a cosy living room with seating for 6, a new wood burner (2025), smart TV and DVD player. The spacious dining room has a table to seat 6 people and a DAB+ radio/bluetooth speaker, as well as a selection of books, maps and games. Wi-Fi is complimentary. The newly fitted kitchen (2023) is well equipped, with plenty of crockery and cookware for dining in. Through the kitchen, the utility room has ample space for coats and boots, and there is also a separate toilet with wash basin and heated towel rail. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a modern, half tiled bathroom/toilet with bath, separate shower cubicle with electric shower and a heated towel rail. The main bedroom is at the back of the house with views over the rooftops towards Walla Crag and Catbells. It has a king size bed and wall-mounted TV/DVD, and there is space for a travel cot. At the front of the house there is a twin room and a room with bunk beds which has a large walk-in wardrobe. The front bedrooms have views towards Latrigg and the Skiddaw range.
Two Chimneys is an ideal base for a holiday in The Lake District. For those who like The Great Outdoors there are many walks you can start from the doorstep. Derwentwater is about 20 minutes walk, where you can take a cruise or hire a boat. Keswick is well served by buses, with some passing the front door and others starting from the bus station in the centre of town. There is a handy mini-market at the filling station 100 metres away which is open late and stocks all the essentials, including logs for the wood burner. The ‘Twa Dogs Inn’, serving food, is only 200 metres away, and Keswick, with its twice-weekly market and unrivalled selection of shops and places to eat, is just down the road.
