Lake Windermere, surrounded by exciting visitor attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Brockhole Visitor Centre, plus the towns of Bowness and Windermere are all within 20-30 minutes’ drive. The market town of Kendal, 6 miles, has a castle, leisure centre, riverside walks and excellent variety of shops and restaurants. The high fells of Central Lakeland and the beautiful lakes of Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water can be reached in about 40 minutes for climbing and scrambling or simply to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
