In a tranquil setting in the pretty village of Great Ryburgh and very close to the North Norfolk Coast, Wensum View Cottage is the perfect base for exploring the local area. And, with a heated swimming pool on-site, it is also perfect for when you just want to relax and unwind on-site. Fishermen are very well-catered for too, with three fishing opportunities on site. The first is a conservation water surrounded by wildflowers containing crucian, tench, roach, rudd and perch as part of the National Crucian Conservation water. Which has produced over 16,500 crucian which have been stocked into other waters around the country. Excavated in 2016 uncovering a nationally significant Anglo-Saxon burial site which has gained media attention. The site contained oak tree coffins from 750 AD and we also found the earliest known plank burial in the UK. The site actually covered all periods Iron age, Roman, Saxon, Viking up to the modern period. The second is a private stretch of the River Wensum, containing roach, dace, pike, chub and the odd brown trout. The third area is a purpose-built pond, which contains A-grade crucian carp, roach, and tench. Also within easy reach, lies Hunstanton, Wells-next-the-Sea, Blakeney Quay and lots of coastal villages in between, meaning that you could actually visit a different beach or seaside resort every day. Pensthorpe Nature Reserve is virtually on the doorstep and is the nature centre location for BBC’s Spring Watch. In fact, those seeking wildlife and bird watching will really be spoilt for choice with lots of marshes and RSPB sites close by. With farm parks, amusements and a Dinosaur Park close by too, younger family members will also find lots to do. After a day exploring, swimming or fishing, you will be very pleased that you chose Wensum View to relax, unwind and plan your next day’s adventure in. Another bonus is the ladies boutique shop, well worth a visit! Shop 300 yards.
