Perfectly positioned between the coast and the North York Moors National Park. You are within walking distance of the river Esk, with a footpath leading beside the train track into the heart of neighbouring Whitby just over a mile away. (Please note that during some months this cinder path can be dry and dusty and may result in a black soot being picked up on shoes). This beautifully furnished apartment accessed through a gated entrance, offers a welcoming setting for your next visit to North Yorkshire. Overlooking the platform where you catch the train to Middlesborough on the pretty line through the River Esk valley or see the steam train to Pickering.
Stepping inside, you are welcomed into a modern and welcoming social space, with an open plan living area. It is thoughtfully laid out with a wooden dining table with seating for all six guests as well as sofas gathered around the TV. The kitchen is fully equipped and of a high specification with integrated appliances, featuring all the necessities required to prepare your meals. As the day draws to a close, there are three bedrooms to choose from, all sumptuous ensuring you have a revitalising night’s sleep. There is a kingsize and a double bed as well as a twin bedroom. In the master bedroom you have an en-suite shower, plus you have a family bathroom with a bath as well as a shower cubicle, so that you can choose to have either a refreshing shower or relax your muscles amongst the bubbles after a day full of adventure.
Just over the village green you have a traditional village pub serving up hearty pub food, or take a visit to the butchers to pick up some locally sourced meat or freshly baked goods to enjoy in the comfort of the apartment. The village also has a small village shop for your essentials. In this charming village you also have the Pleasure Boats, where you can hire a rowing boat and enjoy a leisurely float along the river, or thrill-seekers can tackle the waters in a kayak. The riverbank is abundant with wildlife, look out for leaping salmon, heron and even otters if you are lucky. For children you also have a miniature railway here in Ruswarp, as well as an indoor play area – Mini Monsterz.
Hop into the car and you are in the heart of Whitby within 5 minutes, this historic town was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. With the iconic Gothic abbey up on the headland, the cobbled streets lined with quaint tea rooms and independent shops, as well as the 199 steps leading up to St Mary’s Church with elevated panoramic views, it is almost like stepping back in time. History buffs will be delighted with the abundance of heritage to discover in the ancient town, from the selection of museums, to the fossils and jet you can search for on the beaches. Take a trip on the steam train which winds its way through the scenic moorland from Whitby to Pickering for a day out to remember.
Further afield you have Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Scarborough among the many picturesque destinations awaiting you. This is the perfect base to explore the many delights Yorkshire has to offer. Beach 1½ miles.
