In addition, the area is ideal for walkers and cyclists, and it is rich in wildlife and birdlife for nature lovers. Nearby is Hadrian’s Wall, which dates from the early second century AD. In the local area you can enjoy stunning coastal views and there are plenty of walks available from the doorstep. Running through Bowness on Solway is cycle route 72, known as ‘Hadrian’s Cycleway’; if you love cycling you’ll love this part of Cumbria.
The area has a great selection of nature reserves teaming with wildlife. Bowness itself has a tearoom and a pub serving local ales and great food within walking distance. You have a number of cafés and restaurants in Silloth which is a nice drive along the coast, where you have arguably the best golf course in Cumbria.
