Constructed of mellow Cotswold stone, Willow Cottage is in an enviable position bordering and overlooking the village green in the small, pretty village of Paxford on the outskirts of Chipping Campden. The little-used, village green has a small under 5’s play area and large grassed area ideal for ball games.
The property enjoys the most delightful garden, particularly in spring and summer where you can admire and experience the heady scents of wisteria, climbing roses, clematis, honeysuckle and jasmine. The garden is completely enclosed and private, offering lovely views from the various sitting areas of the surrounding rolling Cotswold Hills. Where else to enjoy a cooling glass of wine or barbecue on the large patio after a busy day out or sitting in the sun house watching the sun go down.
Unfortunately, we have to report that the lovely village pub has sustained a devastating fire to its roof and is currently closed, however it is hoped that repairs will commence in the near future. There are many good pubs in the area and these can be found at Ebrington, Blockley, Chipping Campden and Broad Campden all just two miles away and within walking distance. This part of the world is hugely popular with visitors taking advantage of the pretty medieval villages, ancient lanes, hedgerows and field tracks that benefit this area, which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Paxford is close to many attractions which can interest all ages, from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Broadway, Snowshill with its delightful lavender fields in July, the Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, home of the famous Gold Cup Week, to mention just a few. Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park is just a few miles away too, being very popular with the children. The closest shops can be found at Chipping Campden (offering all varieties) and Blockley shop and post office just 2 miles in either direction. Each year Blockley is used as the set for the TV series Father Ted, and it is not unusual to see the churchyard looking like a winter wonderland in the middle of summer. Shops 2 miles, pub/restaurant 440 yards.
