There are an abundance of local walking, cycling and horse riding trails around Widecombe and plenty of adventure to be had in Haytor for families, couples or those with their four legged friends. The Devon Guild of Craftsman is an art exhibition for all to see not too far away at Bovey Tracey, as well as the town of Ashburton with plenty of local shops to visit. Many activities are available to enjoy within a short driving distance such as Woodlands Adventure Park, Pennywell Farm, Dart Valley Railway, Castle Drogo, Becky Falls, Grimspound and Houndtor medieval villages, or the historic Monk’s Abbey in Buckfastleigh. Located in a national park, these properties offer a fantastic base to explore the nearby nature. Try some climbing/bouldering, engage in some birdwatching or try your hand at canoeing! There are a couple of good local pubs, and cafés ideal for lunch time bites or a nice heart-warming dinner.
If you wanted to explore further afield during your stay, the local train station is Newton Abbot, just over 14 miles away, where you can catch a train to Paignton, Exmouth or the larger cities around the south west such as Bristol or Bath, or even take a trip to Cardiff in Wales for the day. The Ullacombe farm shop is 7 miles away for nice local and fresh produce, should you wish to rustle up a hearty home cooked meal back at the cottage. The beach of Teignmouth can be reached within an hour, and there is an information centre about ½ mile away. Beach 19 miles. Shops, cafés, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 22 guests.
