Nestled against an ancient rock on the edge of Ilkley Moor, lies a unique cottage. The Woolcombers has been gently converted from an 18th-century woolcombers shop into a small but perfectly formed getaway for two. Situated on an old pack horse route and surrounded by open countryside, this retreat really is one of a kind. For those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in a setting of outstanding natural beauty, The Woolcoombers will offer just that. It has been lovingly restored keeping all its original charm and character, whilst tastefully incorporating all the modern facilities of today. With a magnificent stone fireplace and wood burner, the cottage oozes rustic charm and warmly embraces you as you step over the threshold.
Imaginatively and stylishly furnished, it has an open plan living space, which includes an entrance with storage for boots and coats, a fully equipped kitchen with clothes airer, dining and sitting area with comfy sofa bed and a quaint shower room. A ladder leads up from the lower level to a cosy double bed platform in the eves, which has an idyllic view over the surrounding fields and moorland. In the spring, the cuckoo arrives to give visitors an unforgettable and tuneful morning call. Outside, are front and rear gardens, offering the space to sit with a book or cup of tea and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Country walks are aplenty with public footpaths leading in all directions. Whether it’s a stroll down by the River Wharfe on the famous Dales Way route or a strenuous ramble on Ilkley Moor with breath-taking views of the Wharfe valley there are picturesque routes for all abilities. The Pennine Way is also easily accessible, just a short distance away. The elegant spa town of Ilkley is a 1-mile walk across fields – perfect for those summer evenings when you fancy a meal. In Ilkley you will find many high street shops, supermarkets, coffee houses, pubs and restaurants as well as a boutique cinema which is well worth a visit. The picturesque country estate of Bolton Abbey is a stone’s throw away as well as the Embsay Steam Railway line, the old market town of Skipton and Haworth village – internationally famous for its connection with the Bronte sisters.
