Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria, Sleeps 13, 7 nights from £2,585

Situated on a tranquil lane, this semi-detached home offers stunning views of the Solway coast and Scotland. Unwind on the fantastic balcony, which accommodates all your guests, allowing you to enjoy spectacular sunsets and beautiful scenery while sipping wine in good company. Step inside to discover a spacious living area adorned with beamed ceilings; a large leather sofa positioned towards a wood burner and overhead TV—ideal for cosy movie nights complete with popcorn and an inviting fire.

On the lower level, there's a games room featuring a full-size pool table, providing ample space for everyone to have fun. The ground floor's open plan layout creates a bright atmosphere with a well-equipped kitchen and dining zone that's perfect for large get-togethers. During warmer nights, why not make use of the outdoor dining space and barbecue for that al fresco experience.

📋 Question time...

• Did you take a pet and if so, how did you find the dog-friendly amenities? 

 Yes, The Barnacle Goose that we stayed in had a dog-friendly welcome pack with dog treats, tennis ball and poop bags.   

• What are the most important aspects for you when choosing a holiday home? 

Location, I do not drive so need to be able to get to the holiday home by public transport . We got the train to Carlisle and a taxi from there to the property, taxi cost around £35.  Dog-friendly is a must as I take my dog everywhere, modern, and comfortable interiors and a hot tub is nice.    

• Were there any specific amenities or features of the cottage that you particularly enjoyed? 

North Plain Barn has an outdoor fire pit overlooking relaxing views of the coast, and an outdoor kids' playground with trampoline, swings, golf and a volleyball net.   

• What did you think of the location and its convenience to local attractions? 

The location was in a secluded area, with a 40-minute walk to the local pub – The King Arms which we had a great meal at with its cosy open fireplace. It was pitch-black walking back to the property, but this added to the adventure!

• What were the highlights of your break? Any memorable experiences? 

Spending time away with my friend and dog. The views from the property were amazing. We had a wonderful experience; the properties have everything needed for a great holiday from excellent quality interiors to outdoor fun in the hot tub and fire pits.
