A multi-gen break doesn’t get any more homely than at Jalna - a historic 500-year-old church house and Grade II listed building situated peacefully beside the village green and 12th-century Norman church. The large living room and dining area, with 16th-century ceiling beams, are the ideal spot for a family gathering and home cooked meals. Take a short stroll to the village pub, The Tree Inn, to sample some local produce and look up at its ceiling beamed with timbers from ships wrecked on the coast, including a Spanish Galleon!
The picturesque fishing villages of Rock (50-minutes drive) and Padstow are within easy driving distance, as is the mysterious Tintagel Castle of Arthurian legend (40-minutes away).

A short drive away, discover the famous Whistling Sands where children will hear that the sands really do whistle! Visit the popular beaches of Aberdaron, Abersoch and Llanbedrog or try wind surfing at Hell’s Mouth, a huge wild bay with a wonderful stretch of sand.

Sleeps 8. 3 beds. 1 dog welcome. From £1,179 for 7 nights in May

These listed buildings have been sympathetically restored and converted to holiday properties to suit larger family parties. With shared leisure facilities, including two indoor pools, a large outdoor pool, hot tubs and saunas; a small children’s play area with swings, climbing frames and football field, as well as an indoor games area with pool, table football and snooker, there’s lots for all the family to dive into.
Tuckenhay is only a 20-minute drive from the award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands, with its crystal-clear waters and backdrop of lush pine trees, and 30-minutes from a surfing beach at Bantham. There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and enjoying the wilderness of Dartmoor.
