What are the most imporatant aspects for you when choosing a holiday home?

Privacy means the world to us. We cherish those secluded spots where we can truly relax and enjoy each other's company. While we love being in a rural setting, we also appreciate having local attractions and a pub or restaurant nearby for those special moments when we want to treat ourselves and let someone else handle the cooking and cleaning.

A stylish interior with great amenities is important, as is top-notch cleanliness. And let's not overlook a breathtaking view – one that pairs perfectly with a glass of wine (or two).

Were there any specific amenities or features of the cottage that you particularly enjoyed?

We absolutely adored the outdoor deck, complete with cosy seating and a fabulous hot tub! The view was truly spectacular, overlooking a pond and the beautiful countryside beyond. Inside, the cottage's fun and quirky interior brought an extra touch of whimsy to our stay, making it all the more delightful. We can't praise the bed enough – so comfortable and cosy – perfect for unwinding after a day of adventures! Not to mention, discovering the TV built into its frame added such a unique twist to our movie nights.

The estate was simply fascinating. Beyond the stables and highland cows, we stumbled upon an impressive classic car collection – what a fantastic surprise that made our visit even more memorable!

What did you think of the location and its convenience to local attractions?

Tennox Boathouse is set within 100 acres of breathtaking Ayrshire countryside. You'll find yourself on the iconic Ayrshire Coastal Path—a magnificent 100-mile trail offering some of the most awe-inspiring panoramic views in all of Britain. The ever-changing mountainscape of Arran across the Firth of Clyde serves as a stunning backdrop.

The coastline is rich with history and teeming with wildlife: red squirrels,deer,otters by the stream's edge, and seals peeking out from the waves. Bird watchers will be in paradise.

Whether it's horseback riding or taking on one of several exquisite golf courses—including world-renowned Turnberry—there's something for everyone. Don't miss a trip to Culzean Castle; owned by the National Trust for Scotland, it stands proud as Ayrshire's beloved landmark.

Follow in Robert Burns' footsteps by visiting his birthplace at Burns Cottage, discovering artefacts at The Burns Memorial Museum, or standing on Brig o' Doon—the very bridge immortalised in "Tam o' Shanter."

For those looking to explore further afield: a short drive brings you to charming Ayr seaside town or ferry links can whisk you off to Ireland from Cairnryan or nearby islands like Arran, Bute, and Cumbrae for an extended adventure. Day trips are also possible to Glasgow or Stirling or even revel in Edinburgh's timeless charm; or you can lose yourself amid Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park's untamed beauty.

What were the highlights of your break? Any memorable experiences?

Our visit to the seaside town of Largs was great. Known for its rich Viking heritage, it's a place where history comes to life. We indulged in their renowned fish and chips and couldn't resist stopping at Nardini's for some incredibly delicious ice cream.

A day spent at Kelburn Country Park was equally memorable, especially if you have young children; there's so much for them to explore and enjoy. Another highlight was visiting the charming Little Coffee Caravan nearby—for hot drinks and their scrumptious home-baked treats.

This entire experience felt like stepping into another world. The location naturally encourages you to unplug from daily stresses and genuinely reconnect with nature, offering a perfect setting for recharging alongside loved ones.
